Instrument Flight Procedure Design Services - IFPDS

Under current regulations, ICAO - through member States and their respective aviation authorities - designates the area responsible for Instrument Flight Procedure Design (IFP). This area is tasked with effectively delivering all services related to the design, optimization, improvement, and maintenance of instrument flight procedures, aligned with the Global Air Navigation Plan (GANP) and the Air Navigation Plan for the SAM Region.

The Instrument Flight Procedure Design area sets out, in its operational documents (Process Characterization and Management System Manual – MS), the parameters describing the organization of the aeronautical service provider. Instrument flight procedures must be designed in accordance with the criteria established in this manual and those set forth in LAR 211. The Procedures for Air Navigation Services – Aircraft Operations, Volume II – Construction of Visual and Instrument Flight Procedures (PANS-OPS, Doc 8168) contains a set of criteria that the Flight Procedure Design area must apply and supplement with the provisions of LAR 211 and LAR 204.

The Latin American Institute of Civil Aviation (ILAC) operates within ICAO’s regulatory framework for the South American Region (SAM) and adheres to the standards established in the Latin American Aviation Regulations (LAR).

ILAC is established as one of the leading organizations in Latin America dedicated to aviation training, consulting, and technical assistance – and meets all ICAO requirements to serve as a certified provider of Instrument Flight Procedure Design Services (IFPDS) and professional aviation training.
