The courses offered by the Language Training Center of the Latin American Institute of Civil Aviation aim to provide programs that ensure compliance with the international regulatory mandate of ICAO and its Member States, enabling participants to achieve the various operational language levels required for safe operations.

Diploma in English for Aviation

The Diploma provides language teaching professionals with the tools to become specialized trainers, capable of preparing and delivering English for Aviation classes tailored to the needs of various industry professionals.

The diploma consists of 6 modules covering aeronautical topics. Participants will learn about the linguistic needs of air traffic controllers, dispatchers, pilots, aeronautical station operators, mechanics, and cabin crew (TCP). In addition, the program includes forums to discuss the importance of language proficiency in aviation communications.

The course focuses on adult teaching and learning processes, helping participants choose the best strategies and tools for planning English training for specific purposes. Each module includes self-assessments and exercises to monitor progress, followed by a formal evaluation at the end of each module to ensure that participants have acquired the necessary knowledge to advance.

To obtain the Diploma in English for Aviation, students must complete a Final Integrative Project, allowing them to apply everything learned throughout the course.

80 academic hours – 7 months

Familiarization Course for the English Language Proficiency Exam for ATC

Designed for individuals with prior English language knowledge and skills, this course aims to provide initial or recurrent training.

The main objective is to familiarize participants with all language skill areas as they pertain to the content that will be evaluated in the English Language Proficiency Certification Panel.

Most of our certified instructors are experienced Air Traffic Controllers, with extensive industry and teaching experience.

20 academic hours

Pre-Exam or Simulation for the English Language Proficiency Assessment for ATC

This educational session allows candidates to take a pre-exam, either initial or recurrent, simulating the requirements of the English Language Proficiency Certification Panel.

Most of our certified instructors are Air Traffic Controllers, with extensive industry and teaching experience.

EXAMINATION PANEL FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATION FOR ATC

In compliance with ICAO Annex 1, and Aviation Parts 1, 65, 211, and relevant regional and national regulations, we offer ICAO- and aviation authority-certified Examination Panels. Their objective is to certify English language proficiency at the various ICAO operational levels, up to and including Level VI.

In several countries in the region, we are the only authorized providers to conduct and certify AAC-ICAO exams virtually, in addition to the traditional in-person format.

Most of our certified instructors are Air Traffic Controllers, with extensive industry and teaching experience.

ENGLISH OR SPANISH CONVERSATION LABORATORY WITH A FOCUS ON AVIATION & TRANSPORT

Languages not regularly practiced tend to weaken or be forgotten. For this reason, we offer the Conversation Laboratory in English or Spanish with a focus on Aviation & Transport, aimed at developing oral language skills, achieving fluency at the participant’s current proficiency level, overcoming fears of oral communication, and strengthening participants to maintain or advance their language level.

TECHNICAL COMMUNICATION & AVIATION PHRASEOLOGY LABORATORY IN ENGLISH OR SPANISH

Languages not regularly practiced tend to weaken or be forgotten. For this reason, we offer the Technical Communication & Aviation Phraseology Laboratory in English or Spanish, aimed at developing oral language skills, achieving fluency at the participant’s ICAO Operational Level, and strengthening participants to maintain or advance their Technical Operational Language Level.

2.5 hours per week

EXAMINATION PANEL FOR ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATION FOR ATC

Designed for pilots with prior English language knowledge and skills, this course provides initial or recurrent training.

The main objective is to familiarize participants with all aspects of language skills as they relate to the content that will be evaluated in the English Language Proficiency Certification Panel.

Most of our certified instructors are experienced pilots, with extensive industry and teaching experience.

PRE-EXAM OR SIMULATION FOR THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY ASSESSMENT FOR PILOTS

GENERAL ENGLISH OR SPANISH LEVEL TEST

We offer level tests, either corporate or individual, to assess the participant’s general English or Spanish proficiency, according to British and American standards.

ON-JOB TRAINING (OJT) IN ENGLISH-SPEAKING COUNTRIES

We offer all-inclusive immersion trips that provide students with real workplace experience in airlines, airports, and air navigation service providers in English-speaking countries.

Each trip is coordinated and supervised by professional instructors, ensuring a true English language immersion with practical, hands-on experience in real work environments.

This program also focuses on professional networking, allowing participants to create or expand their professional contacts and enhance career opportunities.

Additionally, during free time, students can enjoy cultural activities to further enrich their language learning experience.
